August 30, 2011 No Comments
On its 50th anniversary, Walt Disney released their golden anniversary offering to their fans, the Disney Movie “Tangled”. It started with a woman who finds a flower hat can heal any wound or injury. She uses the flower as a way to keep her young by doing some incantations. Now, a queen also gives birth and becomes ill and the flower was found to heal her. When she gave birth, her child was named Rapunzel.
Now, after Rapunzel was born, the magical power of the flower was transferred to her golden hair. The woman named Gothel who owns the flower knows that if cut, Rapunzel hair will turn into brown and will lose its power so she kidnaps her to hide in the palace. Every year, on her birthday, the castle releases a thousand lights through sky lanterns in a hope that their princess will return. On her 18th birthday, Rapunzel ask Gothel if she can watch the lightning in the sky but was refused to.
On the other hand, a band of pundits led by Flynn steal the princess tiara. While on the way out, his horse got separated (named Maximus) and in an effort to find his horse, Flynn reaches the tower where Rapunzel was hidden. Flynn then helped Rapunzel escape and they live happily ever after.
Tangled received a good review from movie critics including the famous Rotten Tomatoes. It received an average of 7.5/10 based on 170 reviews. It holds 93% rating approval on the website and it is called Disney’s best film so far- very stunning and thoroughly entertaining. The same review was given by A.O. Scott of the New York Times citing the movie as an unmistakable Disney quality movie. Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Time on the other hand gives the film 4 out of 5 stars for being “a gorgeous computer-animated look that features rich landscapes and characters that look fuller and more lifelike than they have in the past”. This has been just as popular as Rango.
